Global South Scholars Network
Created By Us. Created For Us
We are a scholar-led network connecting scholars across the Global South.
GLOSO Labs is a collaborative scholar-led, zero-cost research network for scholars based in the Global South. It is designed to lower structural barriers to collaboration, mentorship, and scholarly exchange.
Our approach centers on peer-to-peer learning, methodological diversity, and generosity of knowledge.
About the Network
Scholars across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Pacific produce rigorous and innovative research across a wide range of fields. Yet many of us work at a distance from the informal academic networks through which collaboration and exchange typically develop. This distance is a reflection of how academic interaction is structured globally.
Geographic distance, uneven access to professional networks, and institutional hierarchies continue to shape patterns of academic interaction, influencing who encounters whom and under what conditions. While existing platforms permit formal connections, they rarely support the kinds of low-friction, informal interaction that foster shared collaboration and inquiry. In particular, early-stage discussions and exploratory feedback remain challenging to develop across regions.
GLOSO Labs was created to address this structural limitation.
What We do Differently
We are organized around a simple premise: collaboration does not emerge from access alone, but from repeated interaction under conditions that lower the barriers of engagement. Rather than functioning as a professional association or a networking platform, GLOSO Labs operates as a distributed, lab-like research space built around shared inquiry and peer exchange.
The network is deliberately scholar-led, interdisciplinary, and horizontally structured. There are no membership fees and no formal gatekeeping mechanisms. Participation is defined by contribution and engagement. This structure is intended to facilitate interaction across regions, methods, and career stages without reproducing existing academic hierarchies.
We create spaces for ongoing conversation, early-stage discussion, and collaborative exploration. Scholars engage with one another across projects and interests, allowing ideas and relationships to develop through continuity of interaction rather than one-off or formal encounters.
Our Vision
We believe academic exchange should be open, equitable, and rooted in mutual respect.
We envision an academic environment that transcends geographic hierarchies, global politics, and the subtle barriers of academic gatekeeping.
At GLOSO Labs, we strive to:
- Foster a community where scholars can easily find one another and form collaborations without formality or cost.
- Cultivate an environment of inquiry, learning, and creativity grounded in generosity and shared purpose.
- Reimagine research as a collective act — one that values openness, tolerance, multilingualism, and mutual support.
This is a space built together, by and for scholars across the Global South.
